aplusbg.gif (3918 bytes) Education — Old-fashioned concept of what to do in school: i.e. provide instruction in reading, writing, math, history and science.

Training — The new concept of what to do in school: i.e. provide operant conditioning for formation of brotherhood-of-man and group-think attitudes and, later, for certain specialized work skills.

Training methods — Pavlov, Watson and B. F. Skinner proved methods on dogs and rats, but methods work just as well on the higher animals (i.e. human beings).

Special Education — 20 percent of Maryland schoolchildren so labeled – ADD, reading disorder, math disorder, dyslexia, now an epidemic of bipolar. Regardless of the label, it all boils down to THEY CAN'T LEARN because there's something wrong with their brains. We discover most of them in 3rd grade when we find out they can't read. Since it's a problem with their brains, they're Learning Disabled (e.g. they're not ABLE to learn), they'll be turned over to lots of trained experts, psychologists, counselors, and doctors. This means lots of extra money and jobs so it works out great for everybody. The parents of the kids labeled Special Ed and Learning Disabled are happy because we spend four times as much money on their kids as the others, so they think they're getting a good deal. Most of these parents don't even mind going along with getting their kids drugged.  (Note: Kids who can't read or add and subtract get really antsy and don't pay attention at all to what's going on.)

Homework — Send lots of it home starting in first grade. This way we’ll have more time to teach trash sorting, safe sex, self-esteem, and values clarification.

Text Books — Outmoded relics formerly used by public schools but now stored indefinitely in warehouses in Maryland since “stuffed sausage” approach to teaching replaced by the teaching of Critical and Higher Thinking. If the written word must be used, the copy machine will do nicely.

Certificate of Mastery (CIM) — Federal government, in partnership with business, certificate given only to students who have demonstrated right attitudes and beliefs. Will not be able to get a job or get into college without it.

School-To-Work — Partnership between school and business using computers and Certificates of Mastery to ensure enough compliant, group thinkers to handle business’s employment needs. Businesses can place “orders” with the schools for efficient supplying of needed workers and to prevent oversupply. Great idea first developed by Soviet Communists. Business won’t be able to resist the temptation of “free” labor, and so government can hook business just like they did medicine and education. The future of public schools and our jobs and pensions depends on keeping government big and making it bigger.
